The objectives of the Institute as stipulated by its Act are:RTI
  • to establish, as a tribute to Rabindranath Tagore, a Centre of studies for Indian culture and traditions.
  • to promote education and culture generally.
The Rabindranath Tagore Institute has been conceived as a Centre encompassing the study and experience of all the art – forms, each with its own integrity, yet within a dimension of mutual interdependence, in harmony with nature and the social environment.

All the activities and programmes of the RTI adopt a fundamentally multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach.
