Rector, RTSS
Mr K. Buckory (contact: 243-7114)

Dear students and parents,

The RTSS started operating under the aegis of the MGI/RTI as from January 2003. It is worth mentioning that the first intake of pupils took place in January 2002 when the school was a State Secondary School, run under the aegis of the Ministry of Education. However, following the MGI/RTI Act of December 2002, the MGI/RTI Council overtook the responsibility of managing the school. The 147 pupils (boys and girls) who were recruited in 2002 by the Ministry of Education were thus taken charge of by the MGI/RTI. These pupils are from different regions, some are from Port Louis, others from Flacq, Belle Rose, Cap Malheureux etc. Most of them got a seat at the RTSS because they could not find a seat in any other State Secondary School of the island. Their CPE rankings range from 1200 to 4500, most of them were ranked 3000 and above. As from 2003, the school started recruiting pupils on a regional basis and most of the pupils are from Ilot, D’Epinay, Pamplemousses, Montagne Longue and nearby regions. The RTSS pupils wear the same uniform as MGI/MGSS pupils. Hence, the pupils of this region have an MGI at their doorsteps. Today the RTSS has a school population of 810 pupils, 70 full time teachers, 5 Music and Dance teachers, 3 Administrative Staff and 18 members of non teaching staff.
