The Centre for Quality Assurance was set up in December 2007. Since November 2007, a coordinator for Quality Assurance was nominated to set up Quality Assurance mechanisms, assist academic departments to set up Quality Assurance procedures, prepare Self-Assessment Report and carry out other duties related to Quality Assurance. Associate Professor Dr G. Reddy-Luthmoodoo is presently the Head of the Centre. The Centre for Quality Assurance is also responsible for ensuring that good governance structures, procedures and processes are in place in individual Schools/Departments which reflect best practices, make proposals for improvement as appropriate, and identify good practices in relation to the maintenance of academic standards.

The Centre for Quality Assurance also helps the Schools and the Institute to prepare for external scrutiny, to comment on the extent to which procedures in place in individual departments reflect best practices and to make proposals for improvement, as appropriate, to identify good practices in relation to the maintenance of academic standards and to make appropriate recommendations at the level of the Central Quality Assurance Committee and to carry out other duties related to Quality Assurance. Quality Assurance matters are discussed in the following committees:-



  •      Central Quality Assurance Committee (Management level)
  •      Quality Assurance coordination Committee (School level)
