The Mahatma Gandhi Institute and the Rabindranath Tagore Institute are polynodal institutions in the educational landscape of Mauritius. The foundation stone  of the  Institute was laid on 3rd June 1970 by the then Prime Minister of India, Shrimati Indira Gandhi and the then Prime Minister of Mauritius, Sir Seewoosagar Ramgoolam. Both Institutes are dynamic and abreast of our times and function  effectively thanks to the schools and departments attached to them. In keeping with the trends of modern technology, this website will provide you with the information you require about the institutions. I wish to acknowledge with deep gratitude the efforts of all people who have contributed enormously to materialize the website. I have much pleasure in presenting to you not only the different activities of the MGI and RTI – academic and non-academic – but also what they stand for and the mission that has been entrusted to them. We have ambitious projects for both institutions. I would like to assure you that we will try our best to come up to your expectations as you join us along the journey we have undertaken.
