Set up in 1974, the Mahatma Gandhi Institute Secondary School (MGI SS) is today an established and recognized institution of education and culture. The MGI Secondary School aims at being a top performing institution and will endeavour to provide quality education to its students and enhances teaching and learning opportunities for both students and staff by promoting a learning environment in the school.

The Mahatma Gandhi Secondary School Solferino is one member of the seven schools run under the aegis of the MGI/RTI Council. It was set up in 2003. At present the school has a population of around 652 students and is fully operational. It accomodates students of Form I – LVI and Upper VI students are housed at the MGI Moka under the responsibility of the Rector of the Mahatma Gandhi National School. Since its operations have started, the school has been gaining more and more recognition. The inhabitants and other nearby residents have high esteem of our school.

The Gandhian Basic School (GBS) was set-up in 1984 aimed at embodying the Gandhian sense of social justice as well as Gandhian principles of basic, adapted, practical education. The two constituent departments of the MGI,namely the MGI Secondary School and the Gandhian Basic School dedicated to secondary education, have made a difference, not only in imparting knowledge and skills but also promoting the overall development-affective and cultural- of the child.

Dear students and parents,

The RTSS started operating under the aegis of the MGI/RTI as from January 2003. It is worth mentioning that the first intake of pupils took place in January 2002 when the school was a State Secondary School, run under the aegis of the Ministry of Education. However, following the MGI/RTI Act of December 2002, the MGI/RTI Council overtook the responsibility of managing the school.
